Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Also known as Part C, Medicare Advantage assists those able to receive benefits covered by Medicare through private companies rather than the basic Medicare plan provided by the government. The Advantage Plans provide coverage beyond what is included in Medicare Part A and Part B, this can include prescription drug coverage, dental and vision coverage, and even gym memberships.
Prescription Drug Plans (Part D)
Because Parts A and B of the Original Medicare do not cover outpatient prescriptions, prescription drug coverage for Medicare enrollees is provided by private insurance companies. Though majority of Medicare Supplement plans are inclusive of prescription drug coverage, other supplemental plans such as Medicare Savings Accounts or Private Fee For Service plans may not include these, so in this case Part D may be necessary to cover prescription drugs.
